Vendor shout-out!

I want to give a blog shout-out to two wonderful West Michigan wedding vendors:

Today, Michelle Torno of Memorable Events, LLC came to visit the store today. Michelle is beautiful and really knows what she is doing when it comes to planning "special days". We had a great time chatting and hope to get together another time when it's not the middle of busy wedding season! I highly recommend Michelle if you are looking for a wedding planner or coordinator. She has a great blog here.

I also want to highlight a gorgeous photo by Steve Fox of Steven Fox Photography. Of course, I think the subject of the photo is great, too. Here is a beautiful photo of Rachel & Mauricio from their engagement session last week.

Looks We Love #2

Here is Rachel, decked out in

Lila Couture
L.Stone Designs
Jennifer Leigh Bridal
Details below...

The dress is "Kate", by Lila Couture. Beautiful, silk satin in a classic silhouette. The color is "spun gold", and looks so pretty with Rachel's fair coloring. The back of the dress has two beaded sashes to the train. Sweetheart neckline and floral beading highlight the bodice, which has a slight dropped waist accented with a narrow satin band.

Rachel's look is highlighted with a necklace of pearls, quartz, and swarovski crystals, and drop earrings of swarovski crystals, all designed by L. Stone Designs. A pretty silk flower on a hairstick by Jennifer Leigh Bridal is tucked behind one ear.

Although a mostly traditional look, the use of a hair ornament rather than a veil brings the formality down a notch. This would be a great look for an afternoon or evening wedding held in a museum or other venue.

Move the photos down...

The good news is that we have been busy helping brides, maids, and moms find the perfect looks for the big day.

The bad news is that I haven't had time to blog and so my photos have been up for a week. Thank you all for your kind words, but I just had to move the previous post down the page and give myself something new at which to look!

As my faithful blog readers know, I have been expanding into carrying gorgeous bridal jewelry. Rachel and I have searched high and low to find just the right lines to bring into the store. A few weeks ago, I introduced you to L.Stone Designs, and if you've been in the store lately, you have seen her beautiful jewels.

This past Monday, I met Megan and Rod of MEG Jewelry. This company is another fantastic wedding jewelry source for upscale boutiques. I'll be sharing more in the future...

Looks We Love #1

Here is the first entry for my new blog feature, "Looks We Love". The idea is to show real people in complete bridal ensembles to help give you inspiration and a sense of some of the wonderful bridal looks available at September's Bride.

This gown by Casablanca features a gorgeous bodice with a beaded halter neckline and a full, gathered skirt, accented with a small, soft bow at the front waist. I am a curvy girl, and I think this gown really puts the curves in proportion, while the halter neckline brings the eye up.

For accessories, I am wearing a diminutive mother-of-pearl necklace with matching earrings by L. Stone Designs. The smaller size of the necklace and earrings keeps the accessories from competing with the heavily beaded gown and halter straps. The hair sticks are also by L. Stone Designs. Since I'm older, and already married, we thought we would show the ensemble without a veil, but every bride deserves something beautiful in her hair!

Total cost is around $1200 for this style.

It's Very Family-Friendly at September's Bride

When choosing a wedding gown, most brides want the opinions of loved ones. Moms & sisters are frequently included in the decision, with dads weighing in sometimes, too. Grandmas & cousins are often asked to give their thoughts. But little brothers?

Last weekend, we had a lovely bride in with her mom, step-dad, sis, and little brother. Little bro had a ball racing on our stairs, jumping on the fitting platforms, and exploring the building. Of course, having two young sons of my own, this doesn't bother me in the least. Things are never still and quiet at my house; why should they be that way at my shop?

Here's a fun picture that the bride's mom sent to me with a "Thanks" for including them all in the process. You are very welcome, of course.

New Feature Coming Soon...

Approximately once or twice a week, watch for a "Look We Love" post right here on the September's Bride blog. I will be putting an entire bridal style together; dress, veil, jewels, & accessories; then post a photo of the look: modeled by Rachel; myself; our summer intern, Rhea; or possibly a willing customer or visitor to the store.

I LOVE to style brides, so this will let me play a little, and give you, the reader, some inspiration in putting together your own bridal style.

Check back soon for "Look We Love #1"

Great Day!

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to our bride, Kate, who was married today!!

Today was a busy, fun day in Downtown Holland and at September's Bride. Although we closed during the Parade, I had two separate appointments this evening with brides Molly and Ashley, who both found the gown of their dreams!

I am posting a pic of Rachel & Mauricio, decked out in wedding wear, ready to ride in a horse-drawn carriage in today's parade. Rachel had a great time being "Cinderella" for the day! For those of you who are interested in the details (aren't we all?), Rachel is wearing a dupioni silk gown by Justin Alexander in the color "Platinum"; her tiara is by Jennifer Leigh, and her necklace by L. Stone Designs; all items available at September's Bride! Mauricio is wearing a white tuxedo with accessories in "Bali Blue", also available at September's Bride.

Lastly, some of my dear friends, Geoff & Ruth, and their daughter, Emily, stopped in to say "Hello" this afternoon. They live in GR and had not seen the store yet. It was so good to see them. It's good to have good friends.

Saturday's Hours

This week, the City of Holland has been celebrating Tulip Time!

Tomorrow, Saturday, May 10, there is a great parade in Downtown Holland at 2:00 PM. Due to this, September's Bride will open tomorrow at 10 AM and close at 2 PM. This change will be for this week only!

Also, be sure to look for one of our gowns & tuxedos that will be worn in the parade! Rachel and Mauricio will be riding on the Windmill Island carriage in the parade. Be sure to wave! I hope to post some pictures next week.

New Gown

This gorgeous silk dupioni sheath gown from Justin Alexander has recently arrived in the store!
The back of the gown has covered buttons from neckline to hem; the sleeves are gentle puffs and the whole look is so feminine! I would love to see this with a chapel-length train and a drop-pendant necklace.

An April Bride

The wonderful Ms. Amy of Amy Carroll Photography sent me this great image from the collection of photos she took on Tim & Rachel's wedding day a few weeks ago. Rachel purchased both her gown and veil from September's Bride, and is truly a delightful young woman.

We wish you the very best, Tim & Rachel!
