Fabulousness!

What a fabulous, fun Saturday we had at September's Bride!

Becca from Lil' Miss Cupcake brought the yummiest mini-cupcakes for today's Tasting Event. She was so delightful to have in the store, too; even helping out when all of our consultants were busy. Thanks, Becca; you are a favorite with us!

Bernice, Michelle, I, and our intern, Jessica, were literally on our toes all day. The store was overflowing with beautiful brides-to-be and their friends and family.

Just a reminder...we strongly recommend appointments if you are shopping on a Saturday. We want to give you the best service possible and the time that you deserve.

Stay tuned on Monday and Tuesday for upcoming highlights for next weekend.

Angels in Dresses

I have two sons; Josh is 13 and Jonny is almost 10. They do not really care what they wear; sweats or jeans and a T-shirt is their "uniform". When going to church or a recital, they know that they have to "dress-up"; they don't complain, but they don't enjoy it much, either.

Perhaps that is the reason that I absolutely LOVE it when new dresses from US Angels arrive at the store. I was in paradise today as I unpacked our newest flower girl, first communion, and party dresses today. The colors are yummy and the styles so sweet.

Please check out the US Angels site and then come in to September's Bride to find the perfect dress for the angel in your wedding or special occasion.

Sweet Things...

Two of my favorite bakery ladies are making plans to visit us in the next weeks!

On February 28, Becca of Lil' Miss Cupcake will be here with her yummy treats for all to taste.

The following weekend, March 7, Katie of Second Floor Bakery will be bringing cake for us to taste.

Plan to stop in on these Saturdays, especially if you are looking for a cake vendor for your wedding or shower.

Announcing...Winnie Couture Trunk Show!

I am so happy to announce that September's Bride has been chosen to receive a 2009 Preview of beautiful gowns from Winnie Couture!

These gowns, as a Trunk Show, will be at our store from February 21-28. Appointments are highly recommended.

To some extent, the Winnie Couture gowns remind me of our very popular Casablanca styles. Winnie Couture, however, is another "step up", with luxurious silk fabrics and a couture style.

No other store in West Michigan carries Winnie Couture, so you can imagine how thrilled we are to have this opportunity. Even if you are already married, have already purchased your gown, or maybe are not even gown shopping at this time, those of us at September's Bride would love to have you stop in and share your opinion of this great bridal line.

I hope to share with you some images of Winnie gowns as the week goes on. Oh, also...we are planning some little surprises for next week during the Trunk Show!

Are June Brides still the most popular?

A survey by the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) concluded that June is the fifth most popular month for weddings.

My Mother was a June Bride; she wanted to get married as soon as possible after graduating from high school! My husband and I were married in September, after he graduated from college and spent a few months at his new job.

I think most weddings are planned around our life's circumstances, but probably not as much as our ancestor's were.

June traditionally was the month for weddings, says ABC, because in an older time, it was after planting and before harvest. In the last century, when it was common to get married shortly after graduation, it was. . . shortly after graduation. And, in an even earlier period, it was after the roads had dried out.

In these days of more convenient travel, air conditioning, heated buildings, and modern conveniences, increasing numbers of weddings are planned when churches and reception sites are available, and when the season fits the "theme" of the wedding.

In the ABC rankings February ranks next to last, but it is still the month of love and romance. More diamonds are sold from Thanksgiving through St. Valentine’s Day than the rest of the year.

Here are the ABC rankings:

January 3%

February 3.8%

March 6.3%

April 7.3%

May 9.9%

June 11.5%

July 12.3%

August 11.5%

September 11.8%

October 11.6%

November 6.4%

December 4.7%

No matter which month you choose for your wedding and no matter why you choose it, that month becomes part of your story and your family. Each year, as September approaches, Jeff and I begin thinking about our anniversary celebration. Do we want to go North and enjoy some fall color? Hawaii is supposed to be great in the late summer! Perhaps we will just take a day off to enjoy the beautiful time of year in West Michigan and visit one of our favorite restaurants.

Why did you choose your wedding month? I'd love to hear your story!

Highlights

I want to share with you some highlights and photos from last weekend's Lakeshore Bridal Show. The venue was beautiful, the weather was mild, and the vendors and attendees had so much fun talking about the upcoming weddings.

Here are Mauricio & Rachel, dressed up to work the booth and model:

Beautiful Bree is wearing "Jen" by Lila Couture;
Eileen is wearing a flower girl dress by US Angels:

Here are two vintage gowns that we displayed at our Great Lakes Wedding Gown Specialists booth, showing the before and after of our restoration process:

Monica and Liz are wearing Lila Couture, while Emily & Eileen are both wearing US Angels:

Audrey was an awesome model! Here she is wearing "McCall" by Maggie Sottero:

I had really planned on getting a photo or two of myself in "show mode", but I was so busy that I neglected to do so. Maybe next time!
