SB Favorite :: Justin Alexander 8466

This is a gorgeous gown in silk dupioni from Justin Alexander.  Shown with a champagne sash and appliques, the gown can also be ordered in all ivory.  This gown works very nicely on a petite figure to add curves and define your waist.

Bridesmaid Colors

I have a new favorite saying when I'm working at September's Bride,

"Every woman looks good in purple"

It's true!  Purple has become one of the hottest colors for bridesmaids for 2011, especially in eggplant and bordeaux.  What are the other popular colors for 2011 wedding parties to wear?

1.  Kelly Green
2.  Sunny Yellow
3.  Platinum
4.  Watermelon
5.  Black

We're often asked our advice for the use of color in bridal parties.  Here are my top tips...

1.  If you really want your bridesmaids to consider wearing their dress again, choose black, brown, platinum, red, or light pink.
2.  You can't go wrong with black tuxes for the men in your party.  YES, they definitely need to wear a jacket for the ceremony, and NO, they do not have to have their vests/ties match the bridesmaids.  They are not going to prom :)

Chicago Bridal Market

This weekend, Rachel and I, along with our husbands, attended the National Bridal Market in Chicago.  We had a great time.  For us, the highlight of market is seeing our favorite vendors, like Rod & Meg Lammers of MEG Jewelry, Jeff & Jenny Koll of Jennifer Leigh Veils, Luis & Angela Padron of Angelina Bridal Couture, and Stephanie Kennedy of Stephanie James Couture.

We also viewed and bought gowns from the new collections of Casablanca Bridal, Maggie Sottero Bridal, and Justin Alexander Bridal.

And, what would Market be without finding some new pretties to bring into the store?  Sondra Roberts  is a well-known line of handbags and clutches, featured frequently in fashion magazines.  We were delighted to discover their bridal line and purchase some gorgeous little bags for women to use at weddings and other special occasions.

Here is one fun photo that we took at Market.  Rachel and her husband, Mauricio, are posing in our hotel lobby next to the Jasmine Bridal sign.
